Auditorium Theatre Kiosk

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University is one the historic and grand theaters of Chicago.  Originally designed by Louis Sullivan and David Adler, the theater structure itself is historically significant and has gone through an extensive restoration over the past several years.  The Auditorium Theatre is the home of the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and hosts many international touring ballet and dance companies, music productions and major Broadway shows.

With the goal of increasing their contact list, we were commissioned to build an interactive lobby kiosk that would be used by theater patrons before productions and during intermissions and by those who visit their box office.  American Express provided the funding for the kiosk in exchange for co-opted advertising on the kiosks themselves.  The kiosks use rich animation and showcase many of the architectural elements of the theater in the interface design.  Users are able to view information on upcoming productions as well as sign up for the theater newsletter.  A monthly $50 American Express gift certificate giveaway is used as an inducement to sign up.  The kiosks are tied into the website content management system allowing remote management of the content on the kiosk.
